Mazda is specially known for its devotion to Wankel engine though it is less fuel efficient than traditional cylinder-piston engine. They have used this class of engine successfully in most of their cars the Mazda RX-7 was not an exception in this case. It came into the market in 1978 and became one of the best-sellers in the US automobile market. Its sleekly exterior, light-weight body and luxurious interior- all added up together to make this lineup of Mazda an instant hit. This Japanese automaker utilized the light-weight property of Wankel engine in the RX-7 successfully. It helped them to keep the weight of the car lesser than other cars of its class. The Mazda RX-7 for sale was available in rear-wheel drive layout and easy to control. With its affordable price it became one of the most popular sports cars ever. The RX-7 was powered with a 1.3 L rotary engine with twin turbo that could produce 255 HP. It proved itself to be a nimble, light and fast car with the help of its powerful engine. It took only 5 seconds to reach 60 miles per hour from standstill position. The suspension system had been tuned for sporty performance and ABS was included for safety. Transmission option included a four-speed automatic or a five-speed manual system. The Mazda RX-7 was too much specialized for that time. Its suspension system was not suitable for everyday ride and it didn’t contain many luxury features that customers expected. Besides, Mazda increased the price of this lineup significantly which upset the customers and the sales of the RX-7 fell sharply. As Mazda couldn’t make enough revenue from this lineup, they decided to withdraw it from the US automobile market and stopped selling any further pieces of the RX-7 from 1995. However, they launched a new lineup in the US market which is called the RX-8. After a decade later still customers look for the RX-7. They need to depend on used models of RX-7 to fulfill their wish. Mazda fans still hope that a new model of RX-7 will come in the market; however, nothing have been announced officially.
